Sierra Club doesn’t LEED by Example

Published by Jason Blanchard under Uncategorized

Sierra Club’s hypocrisy is exposed in our nation’s capitol.

After 4 years of planning, the Sierra Club is under contract to buy 28,000 square feet of office space in Washington DC. As purveyors of “green is the new black”, one would think they would want their office building to be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified. One would think the Sierra Club would use this opportunity to show the world how they walk the walk. One would be wrong.

The building won’t be LEED certified, nor any of the space being bought by the Sierra Club.

The nonprofit’s build-out will have green and energy-efficient elements, but the space will not be certified under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. The building itself will not be certified either.

The Sierra Club declined to comment on the decision to forgo review and certification under the LEED program.

Do as I say, not as I do?

On the one hand, the Sierra Club is in California pushing LEED and asks for donations…..Your Secure Donation Helps Us Build Our Resistance To Soft Standards”

And on the other, their hypocrisy is exposed.

Obama Speaks to the Masses, ONLY

Published by Jason Blanchard under Uncategorized

If the press isn’t there, don’t expect to find Obama either.

While in  Germany, the Obama campaign had a couple of scheduled stops for Obama to visit with troops.  Obama canceled his meeting with US troops at Rammstein and Landstuhl US military bases Friday.  This is part of the Obama campaign’s official reason why….

The senator decided out of respect for these servicemen and women that it would be inappropriate to make a stop to visit troops at a U.S. military facility as part of a trip funded by the campaign.

Why would he think it isn’t appropriate?  Does he think his campaign supporters would have a problem paying for 3-4 people to go visit troops that were wounded defending freedom?  I mean, they’re already in Germany, how much could it cost?  I know gas is VERY expensive due to their outrageous taxes, but still…

More likely, and surprisingly reported by NBC,

One military official who was working on the Obama visit said because political candidates are prohibited from using military installations as campaign backdrops, Obama’s representatives were told, “he could only bring two or three of his Senate staff member, no campaign officials or workers.”  In addition,
Obama could not bring any media. Only military photographers would be permitted to record Obama’s visit.”

The official said “We didn’t know why” the request to visit the wounded troops was withdrawn.  “He (Obama) was more than welcome.  We were all ready for him.”

Sorry troops, SENATOR Obama is playing president today.

SEC petitioned to warn companies against making false and misleading claims on global warming

Published by Jason Blanchard under Uncategorized

Misinformation puts investors at risk!

It’s not just Gore, IPCC and Mainstream Media scaring the pants of people.  Corporations are increasingly tying their performance, and future to the unfounded notion of man-made global warming.  To combat this, The Free Enterprise Action Fund (Ticker: FEAOX) submitted a letter to the SEC requesting they warn publicly-traded companies against making false and misleading statements related to global warming.

Here are some examples cited by the group:

  • Exelon Corp. issued a media release and placed full-page advertisements in major newspapers on July 15, 2008 stating, “The science is overwhelming — climate change is happening now and human activity is the primary cause.”
  • Lehman Brothers issued a report on climate change featuring the so-called “hockey stick” graph to support the notion that humans are causing global warming.
  • The General Electric Company issued a “Call for Action” to “slow, stop and even reverse the damage of greenhouse gasses.”
  • Toyota Motor Corp. states in a report, “When we drive a vehicle, it consumes fossil fuels and emits CO2, a major contributor to climate change.”
  • Goldman Sachs states in a 2007 report, “By now, the dynamics of global warming are widely known, and we find no reason to dispute the scientific assumptions.”
  • Caterpillar said in a public statement that, “We must take action now [to reduce carbon dioxide emissions] or risk serious harm to our planet.”

Recent developments that prove the science is ANYTHING but final:

  • The American Physical Society, the leading professional society for American physicists announced in July 2008 on one of its websites that, “There is a considerable presence within the scientific community of people who do not agree with the IPCC conclusion that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are very probably likely to be primarily responsible for the global warming that has occurred since the Industrial Revolution.”  More here
  • In May 2008, the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine released a petition signed by more than 31,000 U.S. scientists stating, “There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane or other greenhouse gases is causing, or will cause in the future, catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate…”
  • India’s National Action Plan on Climate Change issued in June 2008 states, “No firm link between the documented [climate] changes described below and warming due to anthropogenic climate change has yet been established.”   http://notinmygreenhouse.hypocrisy.com/2008/05/19/over-31000-scientists-reject-human-related-global-warming/

  • Researchers belonging to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reported in the science journal Nature (May 1) that, after adjusting their climate model to reflect actual sea surface temperatures of the last 50 years, “global surface temperature may not increase over the next decade,” since natural climate variation will drive global climate.
  • Climate scientists reported in the December issue of the International Journal of Climatology, published by Britain’s Royal Meteorological Society, that observed temperature changes measured over the last 30 years don’t match well with temperatures predicted by the mathematical climate models relied on by the IPCC.
  • A British judge ruled in October 2007 that Al Gore’s film, “An Inconvenient Truth,” contained so many factual errors that a disclaimer was required to be shown to students before they viewed the film.
  • A panel of the National Academy of Sciences concluded in 2006 that the “hockey stick” graph is not proof that human activity is linked to global warming.

American Physical Society opens AGW debate

Published by Jason Blanchard under Uncategorized

There is a considerable presence within the scientific community of people who do not agree with the IPCC conclusion that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are very probably likely to be primarily responsible for the global warming that has occurred since the Industrial Revolution.

That statement from APS is a breath of fresh air.  While they’re not changing their beliefs in AGW (anthropogenic global warming), they at least see the need for continued debate.  They at least recognize the CO2 haters might not be right.

There’s not just a presence….there’s a “CONSIDERABLE” presence within the scientific community that do not agree.  Mainstream Media, IPCC, Al Gore, NASA’s James Hansen have tried to make us believe there’s just a “fringe” of “non-believers” out there….the science is settled….ALL the reputable scientists are in our consensus….we’re all doomed….CO2 is a pollutant…

The APS newsletter contains two articles representing opposing views on AGW.  Christopher Monckton authored one of the articles, and said it best:

  • Even if temperature had risen above natural variability, the recent solar Grand Maximum may have been chiefly responsible.
  • Even if the sun were not chiefly to blame for the past half-century’s warming, the IPCC has not demonstrated that, since CO2 occupies only one-ten-thousandth part more of the atmosphere that it did in 1750, it has contributed more than a small fraction of the warming.
  • Even if carbon dioxide were chiefly responsible for the warming that ceased in 1998 and may not resume until 2015, the distinctive, projected fingerprint of anthropogenic “greenhouse-gas” warming is entirely absent from the observed record.
  • Even if the fingerprint were present, computer models are long proven to be inherently incapable of providing projections of the future state of the climate that are sound enough for policymaking.
  • Even if per impossibilethe models could ever become reliable, the present paper demonstrates that it is not at all likely that the world will warm as much as the IPCC imagines.
  • Even if the world were to warm that much, the overwhelming majority of the scientific, peer-reviewed literature does not predict that catastrophe would ensue.
  • Even if catastrophe might ensue, even the most drastic proposals to mitigate future climate change by reducing emissions of carbon dioxide would make very little difference to the climate.
  • Even if mitigation were likely to be effective, it would do more harm than good: already millions face starvation as the dash for biofuels takes agricultural land out of essential food production: a warning that taking precautions, “just in case”, can do untold harm unless there is a sound, scientific basis for them.
  • Finally, even if mitigation might do more good than harm, adaptation as (and if) necessary would be far more cost-effective and less likely to be harmful.

King Carbon and Life at the Top

Published by Jason Blanchard under Uncategorized

Al Gore says, “I don’t claim to be perfect”. I claim he’s a Hypocrite!

Al Gore has responded to his 10% jump in electricity usage from 2006 to 2007. And, it’s classic…..

“I don’t claim to be perfect, and all of us who care about this issue are, are trying to do our part, but I, I will say this. We buy green energy. The issue is carbon. The issue is carbon, and we have, essentially, a carbon-free home.”

So the rich folks can continue to live their life however they want…as long as they pay a premium for green electricity, and buy carbon credits from their own company? This guy is no leader. If he were, he wouldn’t have to hide behind the carbon credit scheme.

In 2006, Gore’s Tennesse home used enough electricity for 20 average American homes…and $15k in natural gas. (He also owns a 4,000 sf home in VA, and a third home in Carthage, Tenn. so his total consumption isn’t known)

Gore receives $20,000 a year in royalties from Pasminco Zinc, which operates a zinc concession on his property. Tennessee has cited the company for adding large quantities of barium, iron and zinc to the nearby Caney Fork River.

In 2007, after extensive “green” remodeling, Gore’s home usage INCREASED by 10%!!!!!

In 2007, Al’s son, Al Gore III, was busted for driving 100 mph (in a Prius, lol). So, Al’s daughter went to pick him up from jail…..in a Maserati that gets 11 mpg…

The Carbon offsets he buys are FROM HIS OWN COMPANY!!!

He flies in a private charter jet to speeches, and investments, around the world (to the tune of $98 Million in income over the last 8 years).

This is the best part….earlier this week, Gore challenged America to generate 100% of electricity by carbon-free methods within 10 years. How did he get to the conference? Hybrid?  No way.  Walk?  Naw.  Bike? Hell naw. He had 2 Lincolns and an SUV. One of the Lincolns was left running the whole time so the AC would be nice and chilly for Tipper when the event was over.

This guy is the definition of Horses Ass, and I’d like to make a nomination as such.

p.s. CO2 is not causing global warming.
